COVID-19 Rule Waivers Expire 6/14/23
Governor Abbott's statewide disaster declaration related to the COVID-19 pandemic expired on 6/14/23. As a result, ALL related Board of Nursing rule waivers are no longer active.

There will no longer be waived requirements for reactivating inactive or retired licenses for all licensees. See: 22 Tex. Admin. Code 217.9(f) and 217.9(g), 22 Tex. Admin. Code 221.10(b) , 22 Tex. Admin Code 221.10(c) , & 22 Tex. Admin. Code 221.8(a)(3) and (4) for the current requirements.

Graduate nurse and graduate vocational nurse permits will now be issued for up to 75 days. See: 22 Tex. Admin. Code §217.3(a)(2) and (4) relating to Temporary Authorization to Practice/Temporary Permitfor the current rule.

A nurse who holds a license issued from another state may practice in Texas only if that license is a multistate license or the licensee holds a current single state license from Texas.
