The Texas Board of Nursing is launching a pilot project and is calling for Nursing Peer Review Committees to participate in this pilot. Pursuant to Section 303.012 of the Texas Occupations Code, the Texas Board of Nursing (Board) has adopted a standardized nursing error classification system for utilization by peer review committees. The Board is calling for hospital based nursing peer review committees' participation in a pilot program wherein de-identified nursing peer review information will be shared utilizing an online error classification system. This sharing of data will permit the development of a pool to analyze nursing practice errors. Error events that are submitted under the pilot are only those peer reviewed incidents that are not required to be reported to the Board as a part of the complaint or disciplinary process. An online webinar reviewing details of the pilot is scheduled for June. Participants in the pilot will attend a day long orientation and training on July 13, 2012 in Austin Texas.
